Environmental Policy

No pesticides are chemicals are used on the lavender plants, so there is an abundance of wildlife. We do not test our products on animals and we try to use natural ingredients in all our products when practical or available.

This farm also has 1800 pear trees, Bartlett and Anjou. It is operated as an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) farm, so no harsh chemicals are used. We control pests by using mating disruption practices.

Picnics

Although there is no formal picnic area at Lavender Valley, we do have several tables for your use and you are welcome to bring your picnic basket.

Lavender Field Guided Tours
Guided tours are available for larger groups during the summer months. The tour will be conducted in the lavender field and give a brief history of lavender and the different lavender cultivars at Lavender Valley as well as an introduction to our lavender distillation.

Distillery

Harvest normally starts around July 15th, but this is always dependent on the weather conditions. The distillery only operates during the harvest season and normally during the early morning hours, however it may be operated during special events or occasions. It takes about 80 pounds of lavender flowers to product 1 oz. of pure lavender essential oil. Optimum oil production occurs when the lavender plant still has about ½ of the flowers in bloom and ½ still in buds. We delay this a little so that everyone can see the entire lavender field in full bloom. This decreases oil production slightly, but ensures that you observe the most spectacular view of the lavender fields.
